If you have to walk down this path – and I pray you don’t – but, if you do, then you will find God gives you grace to endure beyond anything you thought you would be able to handle. Each time you feel like you’ve reached the end of the rope, you’ll discover God gives you more rope.

I shared those words with friends almost a year ago. Their young child was seeing a specialist for an orthopaedic issue that, if confirmed, would result in serial casting.

My daughter, Zoe, now 2.5 years old has infantile scoliosis. She wears a torso cast; it gets changed about every 2 months and she’s currently in cast #9. We’ve walked this road as a family for over 18 months.

At the time, Zoe was in cast 3 or 4. So, when they had the doctor’s visit, we were the logical people to call. Their child ended up not having to go into casting, thank God, but the words that I shared with them sit in my brain.

Yesterday, I was at the end of my rope, totally out of the strength to go on. My mom walked in as I was working to get everyone ready to head out for an appointment with the orthopedist and I was crying.

I’m so ready to be done with this. God gives grace, yes. But some days and, yesterday was one of them, I don’t want more grace – I want her to be healed.

Today is a new day though and I look at the rope representing how much I think I can handle and it’s been extended. He’s always faithful to extend it.

And this isn’t eloquent or really a proper explanation of who I am or anything, but it’s what I could say today and eloquence and explanations can wait.

So, I’m praying for all of you who might be in situations you feel like you can’t endure any longer and I pray that if, for whatever reason, the situation doesn’t resolve before you reach the end of your rope that God shows his faithfulness to you by extending your rope too.
